Second year student of Teikyo High School judo club collapses during practice at summer camp; dies 11 days later

It was reported on Sept. 7 that at Teikyo High School in Tokyo, a second year student of the judo club collapsed and lost consciousness during practice at the club summer camp resulting in death 11 days later. The Itabashi Police Station, which received the report, will gather information from people concerned to check if there was a causal relationship between the practice and his death or negligence in the methods of instruction.
The student who died is A (16), a second year student of Teikyo High School. During randori training at the judo hall on the 4th floor of the school in the afternoon of July 30, A felt sick. While he sat and rested he suddenly collapsed. He was taken to the Teikyo University Hospital adjacent to the high school. Eleven days later, in the morning of Aug. 10, he died without recovering consciousness.
